Your VPN says it's on. Is it?
A free security agent that runs on your Mac, watches your connection every 30 seconds, and alerts your laptop and phone the moment your VPN drops or leaks your real location.

What it watches
Most people trust their VPN blindly. VPN Guardian checks that it's actually working and tells you in plain language when it isn't.
- DropsYour VPN disconnects on café Wi-Fi and your real IP is exposed. You get an alert within seconds.
- IP leaksThe VPN app says "connected" but websites still see your real address.
- Route leaksThe tunnel is up, but your traffic is quietly leaving outside it.
- LocationShows the city and country sites think you're in, and tells you when it changes.
- NetworksNew Wi-Fi, going offline, and DNS changes, all logged.
Install in a minute
macOS. Needs nothing but Terminal. Run it once with your VPN off so it learns your real IP, then turn the VPN on.
Phone alerts are free through the ntfy app. Setup steps are in the README on GitHub.

Follow the build
I'm teaching myself cybersecurity and building tools like this in public. I write about the journey, what breaks, and what I learn on Substack.
